Executive Bios
Richard Reiff
CEORichard Reiff believes in the power of the knowledge franchise: to move minds through delivering world-class content, in print, in person and online; and to motivate buyers through innovative integrated marketing programs.
Reiff's nearly three decades of success in the publishing industry attest to the conviction of his beliefs. In 2006, Reiff, along with George Fox and Catalyst Investors, acquired the RNP Division of Reed Business Information to form Advantage Business Media. The RNP portfolio consisted of 21 properties, including a number of leading scientific, technical and medical (STM) magazines and websites.
Since the acquisition, Reiff and Fox have been very busy building a foundation for sustainable growth. They have established a brand planning process that is designed to constantly monitor any industry for change. The resulting intelligence guides content creation and the sales process. The company's websites are all being redesigned and optimized. Everything that has been changed or instituted since July of 2006 has been done with reader and advertiser input to ensure maximum ROI for Advantage Business Media customers and for the company.
Prior to founding Advantage Business Media, Reiff was President of the successful Cygnus Publishing Division of Cygnus Business Media, where he oversaw 67 trade magazines and 16 custom publications. From 1986 to 2006, Reiff guided Cygnus to become one of the nation's largest and most profitable business-to-business publishers and under his direction, Cygnus Business Media's publishing division grew to reach more than three million business influentials annually with more than 80% of its titles holding the number one or two position in their respective markets. Reiff was instrumental in enhancing Cygnus' assets by upgrading the company technologically, bringing in new custom marketing opportunities, streamlining business operations and strengthening the products within the company through integration and cohesion. He was directly involved in the conceptualizing, development and launching of several of the company's most popular trade publications.
He was previously President and Chief Operating Officer of Johnson Hill Press (JHP) for many years, until it was acquired by Cygnus along with PTN Publishing in 1997. Before joining JHP, Mr. Reiff worked in sales and marketing for two agricultural equipment manufacturers.
A resident of Madison, Wisconsin, when not working or on the road, Reiff enjoys spending time with his four daughters, nine grandchildren and wife Kathy. A fitness enthusiast, Reiff also enjoys the beach, fine foods and an occasional round of golf or fishing trip.
