Chief Executive Officer
Jim assumed the CEO role in August 2014. He brings demonstrated experience and success leading growth stage companies, both early and developed, as well as turn-around situations having served in the capacity as Chairman, CEO, President & COO at hyper-local news firm The Alternative Press, B2B Video Platform & Services firm Synaptic Digital, all Digital financial firm The Street.com, & B2B data, software, news and analytic firm Thomson Reuters while also serving as a Board Member on a number of other leading edge organizations. His expertise includes expanding both Enterprise and Consumer business models that lead to scalable businesses through organic means, expanding the market opportunity, product/service innovation, strategic and tactical goal focused management, and via acquisition. Jim has led or held an active role in 12 M&A transactions and integration, including a public company take-private.
Since joining as CEO, he has launched a cross-company strategic growth plan to drive revenue growth focusing the company on key vertical sectors, expanding its organic digital footprint, development of a suite of marketing services offerings, expansion of our conference and awards business, and improving audience engagement in all sectors.
Chief Operating Officer & Chief Financial Officer
As COO and CFO, Terry oversees day-to-day operations of Advantage Business Media including Finance, Digital/IT Development, Production and Audience Development.
Terry began her career in publishing in 1984 with Murdoch Magazines’ travel and aviation groups. She followed the sale of Murdoch’s travel group to Reed Elsevier, where she held a series of financial management positions before being named Director of Financial Operations. With Reed Elsevier’s sale of the travel group to NorthStar Travel Media in 2001, Terry was promoted to VP of Finance. She joined Reed New Products (Advantage) in 2003.
Chief Content Officer
As CCO, Beth is responsible for overseeing editorial direction and developing content that moves the needle. Prior to joining ABM in 2013, she spent the majority of her career at Reuters where she served in a range of key leadership roles. As an SVP and Global Editor, Beth ran news bureaus in New York, London, Hong Kong and Singapore. During her tenure at Reuters, she built a news team of 40, increased real-time news stories from 20/day to 120/day, and created more than 10 global print and digital news offerings. For more than a decade, she was consistently regarded as one of Wall Street's Top Credit and M&A Reporters. Beth began her career as an investigative reporter for Thomson.
General Manager, Design Group
As General Manager of Advantage Business Media’s Design Group, Nick Pinto is responsible for the strategic development and growth of the CED, ECN, Medical Design Technology (MDT), Product Design & Development (PD&D), Wireless Design and Development (WDD), and Wireless Week brands. Nick joined the company in 1995 and, since moving into a management role in 1999, has played an integral role in issuing ECN into the age of new media, helming a multimedia approach to content development that has seen ECN surge ahead in the electronic design engineer marketplace. In his five years leading ECN, the brand has increased its share-of-market performance each year in the highly competitive electronics industry. As general manager, Nick will harness his previous successes to raise the bar in ABM’s new design group.
Tom directs sales growth and development for the Manufacturing Group brands. Tom has extensive publishing and sales experience in many markets. Prior to joining the company in 2006, Tom was Group Publisher of Cygnus Business Media's Transportation Group. At Cygnus, he successfully led several publications to double digit growth and received Cygnus's 2005 Sales Award. Lynch began his publishing sales career at Johnson Hill Press' classified division in 1995.
General Manager, Science Group
As General Manager of the Advantage Business Media Science Group, David Madonia oversees all brand operations for Bioscience Technology, Chromatography Techniques, Controlled Environments, Drug Discovery & Development, Forensic Magazine, Laboratory Design, Laboratory Equipment, R&D, Scientific Computing, and ALN. In addition, David manages the group’s event portfolio comprised of The Laboratory Design Conference, The TurnKey Conference, the R&D 100 Awards, and the newly launched R&D 100 Technology Conference. David joined Advantage in January 2015 after 20 years of B2B success in publishing management and integrated media sales, primarily with Penton Media. Leveraging industry best practices and implementing a consultative sales process, he will pursue an aggressive and differentiated B2B strategy to better align customers’ needs with tailored marketing solutions. This strategy underscores the Science Group’s commitment to investing in our brands’ audience and content, while expanding our portfolio of digital offerings, live events, and custom marketing services.
As Vice President of Digital Product Development at Advantage Business Media, Tim Besecker is responsible for the development, support, & maintenance of the company’s digital platform. Our data-driven digital platform is leveraged by our clients through marketing services initiatives as well as our employees across many departments to ensure operational & strategic success.
A Rutgers MBA graduate, Tim began his career entrepreneurially as a partner in a small construction management company wearing many hats. He joined the company in 2008 and, since moving into a leadership role in 2010, has been the catalyst for migrating a siloed legacy environment into a fully integrated solution as well as building a stout agile development team.
Tim has been an avid snowboarder for the last 20 years and favorites the champagne powder of Snowbird Utah. He has also been an active member of the homebrewing community for almost a decade and even made 16 different styles and 100 plus gallons of beer for his wedding.
As Vice President of Human Resources for Advantage Business Media, Susanne is responsible for overseeing HR Operations and Benefits for employees in 14 states across the nation including managing staffing, recruitment, compensation, payroll, employee relations, professional development along with 401K administration.
Foulds joined the company in 1999 as a Senior Director, Human Resources. She holds an MS in Human Organizational Science from Villanova University along with a PHR certification from the HR Certification Institute Society. Foulds was a finalist in the American Business Media 2007 HR Executive of The Year Award.
