Advantage Business Media Announces Additional Promotions
Rockaway, NJ – June 27, 2008 – Advantage Business Media has announced that Tim Studt will assume the role of Editor-in-Chief of Laboratory Equipment and Chromatography Techniques effective July 1st. He replaces Pam Ahlberg, who has chosen to pursue personal interests. The magazines and accompanying online portal feature new products for scientists, chemists and research and development managers with buying responsibility in industry, government and university laboratories.
Studt has been with Advantage Business Media (previously Reed Business Information) for more than 20 years, serving the last 13 as Editor-in-Chief of R&D Magazine and Laboratory Design Newsletter. While under his direction, Studt’s editorial staff has won more than 30 business press awards on science and technology topics including the coveted Jesse H. Neal National Business Journalism Award.
During his career, Studt has also founded three business publications, six print and electronic newsletters and four web sites, along with creating numerous supplements, conferences, surveys, white papers, directories, calendars, posters, webcasts, videos, and associated business media products. He has a BS in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology and an MBA from Lewis University.
After 10 years at the editorial helm of the two magazines, Ahlberg said her decision to leave was driven by a desire to spend more time pursuing personal interests. "I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time on Laboratory Equipment and in this market and am grateful for the friends and colleagues I’ve come to know and respect."
"Although we are very sad that Pam Ahlberg will be leaving the company, we are extremely excited with the addition of Tim Studt to the Laboratory Equipment team," said Liz Vickers, publisher of Laboratory Equipment and Chromatography Techniques. "His strong background and industry expertise is a huge asset for our property, and we are looking forward to what he will bring to the group."
Advantage Business Media also announced two editorial promotions. Erin P.T. Canning will move to the Senior Editor position at Laboratory Equipment, where key responsibilities include editing all articles and press releases, expanding the Best Practices section, creating e-newsletters, coordinating the annual Pittcon Show Guide, and liaising with vendors and advertising agencies at trade shows. Canning has been with Advantage Business Media since 2004.
Jennifer Miller has been promoted from Managing Editor to Executive Editor of Chromatography Techniques. In this position, she is responsible for all daily editorial operations of the magazine, including soliciting and/or writing feature articles, editing contributing pieces and creating monthly e-newsletters, as well as moderating Webcasts and attending tradeshows as they arise. Miller joined Advantage Business Media in 2007. Both editors will report to Studt.
