Chief Executive Officer
Jim assumed the CEO role in August 2014. He brings demonstrated experience and success leading growth stage companies, both early and developed, as well as turn-around situations having served in the capacity as Chairman, CEO, President & COO at hyper-local news firm The Alternative Press, B2B Video Platform & Services firm Synaptic Digital, all Digital financial firm The Street.com, & B2B data, software, news and analytic firm Thomson Reuters while also serving as a Board Member on a number of other leading edge organizations. His expertise includes expanding both Enterprise and Consumer business models that lead to scalable businesses through organic means, expanding the market opportunity, product/service innovation, strategic and tactical goal focused management, and via acquisition. Jim has led or held an active role in 12 M&A transactions and integration, including a public company take-private.
Since joining as CEO, he has launched a cross-company strategic growth plan to drive revenue growth focusing the company on key vertical sectors, expanding its organic digital footprint, development of a suite of marketing services offerings, expansion of our conference and awards business, and improving audience engagement in all sectors.
Chief Financial Officer
As CFO, Terry oversees day-to-day operations of Advantage Business Media including Finance and Production.
Terry began her career in publishing in 1984 with Murdoch Magazines’ travel and aviation groups. She followed the sale of Murdoch’s travel group to Reed Elsevier, where she held a series of financial management positions before being named Director of Financial Operations. With Reed Elsevier’s sale of the travel group to NorthStar Travel Media in 2001, Terry was promoted to VP of Finance. She joined Reed New Products (Advantage) in 2003.
Chief Digital Officer
As Chief Digital Officer at Advantage Business Media, Tim Besecker is responsible for the development, support, & maintenance of the company’s digital platform. Our data-driven digital platform is leveraged by our clients through marketing services initiatives as well as our employees across many departments to ensure operational & strategic success.
A Rutgers MBA graduate, Tim began his career entrepreneurially as a partner in a small construction management company wearing many hats. He joined ABM in 2008, since moving into a leadership role in 2010, has been the catalyst for migrating a siloed legacy environment into a fully integrated solution and building a stout agile development team.
Tim has been an avid snowboarder for the last 20 years and favors the champagne powder of Snowbird Utah. He has also been an active member of the homebrewing community for almost a decade and even made 16 different styles and 100 plus gallons of beer for his wedding.
Senior Vice President Sales, Science Group
Tom Morgan joined ABM in November of 2016. He is Senior Vice President of Sales for the Science Group, overseeing the team that handles all Branding, Lead Generation; Thought Leadership and Conference / Event revenue streams for R&D, Laboratory Equipment, Forensic Magazine, ALN, Bioscience Technology, Controlled Environments, Drug Discovery & Development, Scientific Computing, and Laboratory Design.
Before joining ABM, Tom served as Chief Revenue Officer at EverythingBenefits and Senior Vice President of Partner Development and Content Syndication at AIQ Inc. Prior to that, he was Head of Business Development at SaaShr. Tom has brought his extensive multi-industry experience in sales and business development to ABM, helping to lead the Science Group to the forefront in the delivery of performance-based media and marketing solutions for clients.
Editorial Director, Science Group
Bea joined ABM in October 2014. She leads the R&D 100 Awards program as well as ABM’s science conferences, including the R&D 100 Conference, the Laboratory Design Conference and the International Laboratory Design Conference. Her expertise in custom publishing has brought new opportunities for ABM with the creation of multiple industry trend reports in the R&D market, lab design and emerging technology markets. Prior to working with the ABM science group, Bea directed publications, websites, e-newsletters and custom reports in the healthcare, science and pharmacy space. She launched a successful awards program, the Next Generation Pharmacist, with major industry support and national recognition. Bea has hosted thought leadership summits and workshops in a variety of topics for corporate, association, academic and professional stakeholders.
As Editorial Director, she oversees all operations for R&D, Laboratory Equipment, Forensic Magazine, ALN, Bioscience Technology, Controlled Environments, Drug Discovery & Development, Scientific Computing, and Laboratory Design.
Editorial Director, Design & Manufacturing Group
Joyceann Garippa joined the ABM team in October 2016. As Editorial Director, she oversees all operations for CED, Chem.Info, Electronic Component News, Food Manufacturing, Industrial Distribution, Industrial Maintenance and Plant Operations, Manufacturing Business Technology, Manufacturing.Net, Medical Design Technology, Pharmaceutical Processing, Product Design & Development, Surgical Products, Wireless Design & Development, and Wireless Week.
Joyceann had been an independent consultant for six years, working with companies such as Lakewood Media, TriMax Direct, and Moose River Media to help expand editorial and sales/sponsorship opportunities in the online and conference/trade show spaces. During her time at Training magazine, Joyceann was also the emcee and hostess for the Top 125 Gala. With more than 20 years of experience in B2B publishing, Joyceann has been a frequent keynote speaker on industry trends and topics that include retail and fashion trends, licensing and merchandising, and consumer brand equity. In addition, Joyceann is the editor and co-author of Licensing for Dummies, an exclusive book published by Wiley.
